So since all the cool kids I know have blogs for their lives and babies I figured I would follow the in crowd and make one of my own. So this post is to play catch up to get everyone I don't talk to everyday up to speed with what's going on in our lives. Let's begin.
As most of you know we are having a baby!!! As I have seen in other posts I will answer the questions that follow this announcement. Were we trying? Um sort of. We started trying just before we got engaged in June of 2008 (yes we are a modern couple of sorts) We had decided to stop trying in December until after the wedding but on March 15th I got a very nice surprise!!
Are we finding out what it is? Yes. We actually just found out on June 30th that we are having a girl. We wanted to find out what the first baby is because I wanted a boy (I'm scared of having a girl, and Thomas wanted a girl (he's scared of having a boy) I really thought we were having a boy because like some wives tales state when you crave beef you are having a boy and everyday in the first two months I wanted a big fat cheese burger or steak! Also I was having dreams of the baby and every dream was that it was a boy. I also did the point on a string trick twice and both times it came out a boy. So it was a surprise to me when we found out it was a girl. A nice surprise I must say.
Do we have names picked out? Yes. I told Thomas a long time ago when we started talking about getting married and having a family that if we have a girl he has no choice in the name of the first girl because we are naming her after my mother and sister. Luckily he was nice enough to comply and another bonus was that he actually liked the name. Her name will be Elizabeth Elaine Montgomery. Neither of us really care for the normal nicknames for Elizabeth so more than likely she will not have one and she will be called Elizabeth.
When am I due? November 25th. Yes the day before Thanksgiving!! My doctor says I shouldn't anticipate on coming early or on time more than likely I will be giving birth late so we may still have a Thanksgiving this year. Either way I am thankful to have a little lady by Christmas this year.
Did I have morning sickness? Oh MY GAWD YES!!!!!! It lasted til week 16!! The first two weeks after I found out I felt fine and was thankful I wasn't going to be sick. Oops! Spoke too soon! Everyday I woke up and some days I had a couple hours before it set in some days I had five minutes. The Dr told be an over the counter remedy...didn't work. A prescription for the nausea...made it worse. Thomas the poor guy had to go out everyday to get food for lunch and dinner (breakfast all I could eat was breakfast bars or just bread). No food could be cooked in the house and Thomas, again poor guy, had to move the coffee maker into the garage and make sure the door was cracked to air it out before I could leave the house. Crazy! The Dr. kept telling us the normal stuff "Oh about week 10 or 12 it will level off and you will be feeling much better" We would get so excited the closer it got, but week 10 came and left, as did week 12. We were in trouble until week 16. I must say this was good timing though because it was gradually getting better before it completely stopped at week 16 and this was around the wedding time so luckily I wasn't sitting with my head in the trashcan while saying "I do" NICE!!
I am now 20 weeks or 5 months. I am big and getting really uncomfortable. I gained a lot of weight in the first trimester because I couldn't have anything fresh to eat just fast or prepared food so translation nothing healthy. It has tapered off since I am eating all meals made at home now so hopefully I won't have too much to lose after Elizabeth comes. I just started feeling her move about week 17 but had to have the Dr. confirm that it was actually what I was feeling. I was waiting for the butterfly flutters everyone told me to look for. Of course my child is not gentle and has to be different. It has always felt like she was punching me or flicking me. She is very active and rolls around a lot. She is already letting me know when I am in her space and she stretches until it hurts me to make me give her room. She is already the boss. I'm in trouble.
Thomas is already a great dad! He reads to us about what is going on with Elizabeth and myself and he talks to his daughter all the time so she knows who he is. The face he gets when he talks about her is priceless. He is so proud and excited! I wish I could get a picture of his expression to keep forever. He is already softening so I can only expect he is going to melt when she comes out to greet the world!
I still have to figure some things out with this site so next time I will give belly pics and more updates but for now enjoy playing catch up.
